  10. <p>The 144th AS and 210th RQS are the two operational units of the group. The 144th Fighter-Bomber Squadron was formed in July 1953 at Elmendorf AFB, with the F-80C assigned the following year. The squadron moved to Anchorage IAP in 1955. F-84Es were assigned in July 1955, concurrent with a designation change to a Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, until July 1957 when the unit converted to C-47s and became the 144th Air Transport Squadron. Ski-equipped C-123Js were assigned in July 1960. Designation changed to Tactical Airlift Squadron in April 1969, and the 176th TAG was formed at the same time. The Provider was replaced by the C-130E early in 1976, followed by the C-130H late in 1983. The 210th ARS was activated during April 1990 with HC-130H(N) and HH-60G delivered shortly after formation. The HC-130s were new-build aircraft purchased with 1988 and 1989 funds.
